THE WAR IN YEMEN: THE STATE OF HUMAN RIGHTS, THREAT OF TERRORIST GROUPS AND THE OUTLOOK FOR A FINAL SOLUTION

November 3, 2019

Often, the war in Yemen has either been portrayed as a war between political parties or groups and peace initiatives have tended to focus on the leaders of those parties and groups or it has been portrayed as a war between regional powers. With all this uncertainty violations of human rights against civilians have tendered to be interpreted in the same polarised way and has become a tool for political and media propaganda whilst ignoring the real suffering of civilians.

In this seminar, the Southern Independent Group (SIG) will seek to present facts which highlight the catastrophic situation left by the war and the extreme violations against civilians perpetrated by extreme religious and belief ideological groups.

The seminar will also highlight the dangers that these groups pose to civilian life and societal peace as well as the security threat they pose to Yemen and the region.

The Seminar will also highlight the economic and development needs as well as discuss the possibilities for ending the crisis.

Time will be devoted for the questions and answers as well as comments and we hope that you will be able to join us for this important Seminar at this critical time in the Yemen Crisis.
